The Generosity of Ramesh
In a quaint village surrounded by lush hills, there lived a humble farmer named Ramesh. Year after year, his crops had withered away, leaving him struggling to feed his family. Yet, despite his own hardships, Ramesh was renowned for his big heart. Whenever he had a bit to spare, he always shared it with those who were even more in need.
One afternoon, as Ramesh walked home from the market, he encountered an old stranger who seemed weary and lost. The stranger, having traveled a long way, was seeking directions to the next village. Moved by the stranger's plight, Ramesh invited him to his home for rest and a meal.
Ramesh's family, though having very little, greeted the stranger warmly and offered their simple supper. Deeply touched by their hospitality, the stranger expressed his gratitude and, after resting, promised to repay their kindness someday before he departed.
Months rolled by, and a severe drought struck the village. Water became scarce, and many wells dried up, plunging the villagers into despair. As Ramesh worried about his family's survival, an unexpected procession arrived at his doorstep one evening. Leading the procession was the stranger they had once helped.
The stranger revealed himself to be a wealthy merchant from afar. He had never forgotten the kindness Ramesh and his family had shown him. In a gesture of gratitude, he brought carts loaded with food, water, and supplies to aid the entire village through the drought.
The villagers rejoiced and lauded Ramesh for his selflessness and the kindness he had extended to a stranger. The provisions from the merchant sustained the village until the drought ended, and Ramesh and his family were celebrated as heroes.
The tale of Ramesh and the stranger spread far and wide, illustrating that even a single act of kindness, no matter how small, can create ripples that touch many lives.
Moral of the story : Acts of kindness and generosity, especially in times of personal hardship, can lead to unexpected and profound rewards.
